Adapting a structure built in the mid-1980s as a set for the film adaptation of Willie’s iconic 1975 album “Red Headed Stranger,” the Opry House has been transformed into a music and hospitality venue by Cushing Terrell.

The challenge was to stabilize the building, which was never meant to last, and adapt it to meet current building standards and contemporary use without losing its Old West look and feel.
Preserving as much as possible, work included updating the building’s structure, egress, and a small addition to support back-of-house functions. The Opry House now provides an important venue for the Luck Reunion which draws nearly 4,000 guests, as well as use for other shows and events.
